![]() ![]() Painstakingly researched, he has written a fine tribute to his own family as well as the homesteaders who settled the Canadian West in the early 1900s. What an amazing book! The author has written of his own forebears, embellishing with fiction what he could not know for certain as fact. Then, I began to see how the story would evolve and grow… At first it didn’t seem like it had anything to do with the blurb I read, as the first pages were an account of the horrific way the mentally ill were treated in asylums near the turn of the century. ![]() I had no idea what to expect when I began this novel. I originally reviewed “ A Place Called Winter” in September of 2017. I decided to join in because sharing book recommendations is one of my most favorite things to do! Although all bookbloggers have an endless TBR pile, we seldom take the time to reflect back and post about some of the great reads from a few years ago.
